Zzig-Zzagging thru Kent (part II) - "The Party"

As promissed, i`m back with an update on what`s new here in Canterbury. And what else to talk about than a party? :P We(Bogo, Me and Razvan) decided last week to throw an all-romanian party this Saturday night at our place. Nothing formal was prepared and the invitations were stated as follows: "Hey! Wanna come to our party? You can bring all the romanian students you know with you! And bring some drinks too!", and so we ended up having more than 30 people at our place with the fridge and freezer FULL of 60+ beers, 3L of wine, 2L of bailey`s, 4L of vodka, and other weird-looking, freaky-tasting alcoholic beverages. What was the result? Well, let`s just say that in the morning, the house looked like a bomb had blown up inside. Beer cans EVERYWHERE (even in the bath tub), glasses in the yard, vodka bottles under the couches, bailey`s stains on the walls and best of all, a humongous barf on the carpet in MY room! Ya, even after putting up a sign on the door that said DO NOT ENTER, a bloody drunk cu*t goes into my room for a snooze and next thing you know she turns into the Old Faithful gheizer. Thankfully, she was at least sober anough to clean all the mess up (with my towel:(( ) Oh well, at least now we know not to do this again anytime soon (if not ever)!

Yup, I'm back...

Finally, after more than 6 months, i'm back and writing... In February i had to quit doing this cuz' my folks were on my back all day due to a fu*ked up thing called a "Baccalaureate". Yup, it's the exam many of us Europeans have to take in order to be accepted into University or if we want to have a higher salary than the guy who sells flowers accross the street... Fortunately now I'm done with that and preparing for Uni in UK. :-D So, although it's a bit late, I wish you all a fun summer break (what's left of it) and good luck to those of you who still have exams to take!

Long live the iPhone... but fu*k Apple!

After more than a month of waiting, i finally managed to jailbreak and unlock the brand new iPhone Mihai (JumperMishu) brought me at the beginning of this winter. I must admit that it's a pretty nice piece of technology that has become widely popular allover the world in less than a year, however, as they say, everything good is either illegal, immoral or fatty... Obviously, till last month, the only place you could buy such a phone was the US. (Of course, in Romania too, but at double the price) That would not have been such a big deal as long as they sold the phones unlocked like they do with NOKIA's everywhere else... But NO! They had to lock them on AT&T and update the firmware once every month or two to make sure hackers would not hack the software... That's how i ended up in December with an iPhone i could not use. I had to wait till today to find a jailbreak & unlock method for the 1.1.2 - 04.02.13_G version. So for those who are still waiting to find that, here's everything you need to do:

1. To jailbreak the phone (be able to access its menu and use it as an iTouch) do the following:

*note that you must do this in order to get to the next step!
**you can find the files mentioned in the video on the description tab on YouTube

2. To unlock it (be able to use it on any carrier):

Since there is no AnySIM software available for this version yet, the best thing to do without risking to brick the phone, is to buy a thing called TurboSIM. It's like a SIM card that you place on your own card in order to fool the iPhone in believing that it's a valid AT&T SIM. It's not too expensive (~50e) and it's worth the money! To purchase one of these, contact Akaiu. He helped me out and it works perfectly.

*This is NOT going to work on any newly bought 1.1.3 with bootloader 4.6 version. You'll just have to wait a few weeks/months...

New in town!

To begin with, i have to admit that less than a year ago i swore i would never start a blog, just because everyone had one and i considered it a total lack of originality... Now, after a few months i realize that having a blog could actually be good for you... Besides the fact that instead of wasting time watching TV or doing something useless, it's a lot more fun to start blabbering about the ugly old lady that smacked you in the head in the morning for not giving her your seat in the bus, or about the neighbor who stuck a knife in your soccer ball just because he couldn't sleep at 2 P.M. due to the noise you were making, it's also a pretty good way to brush up on your English/Romanian/Rromani writing skills.
Now that my blog has its first post, a rough-looking header that i made last night after 2 A.M., and of course a name, i must thank Ana (aka Tzushk) for enlighting me on what to call it, myself for the hard work and perseverance, and last but not least, Astral (aka RDS) for cutting my internet connection no less than four times during this day!
